Online Law Schools
With the internet booming, and people’s lives too busy, it’s no wonder that online educational programs have become more and more popular. When it comes to earning an online law degree, there are 14 different online law schools you can choose from. While earning a degree online at on your own time might sound appealing, there are drawbacks such as:
- None of the online law schools are ABA accredited
- 49 States require an accredited degree upon graduation (except California)
- You need an accredited degree to take the bar exam
Online law schools are classified under distance learning schools. California is the one state that allows graduates from these schools to sit for their bar, as long as the examinee meets all requirements. The problem with this, is that a prospective lawyer who is earning a degree online must live in California to practice law upon completion of school and all exams. After working as a lawyer in California for a few years, it could be possible to practice in other states.
